4-H World Citizenship - Dinner with my family!

This is a cuttlefish that was removed from the tank in front of us, taken to the kitchen, cut and served. The tentacles were still wriggling. Yummy. This was the first coarse.

Starting with the right hand upper corner: kochi, flatfish, grunt, horse mackerel, horse mackerel, takaba. Second coarse.

Abalone/ear-shell, in butter with the stomach on the side. It is popular and usually expensive.(Abalone/ear-shell are medium to very large-sized edible sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks which have an ear-shaped shell with pearly interior, which is a source of colorful mother-of-pearl)

Grunt fish, deep fried with a squirt of lemon. Each person is served 2 heads/body and one tail. You eat all of it, head/eyes, fins and tail.

In addition to all the fish above, each person is served one alakabo- a deep sea fish. It is sweet. Also, each person is served miso soup made with yellow tail. Rice, vegetables, green tea, etc. were included too.

That was dinner. And it was only 4100 yen $43.38 total, for all 4 of us together. That's a lot of good fresh fish!!!

Small fish are in the upper glass tanks, big fish and cuttlefish are in the concrete tanks in the ground.
